Avast - one of the best free virus protection programs available. If you know that your computer has been infected by a known virus/worm (such as MyDoom, Netsky, Beagle etc.) try using the FREE avast! Virus Cleaner.
SpyBot - An excellent spyware / adware / malware remover—and it's free.
Adaware - No free spyware / adware / malware remover actually removes everything. So, use Adaware in conjunction with Spybot. It's also free.
TuneUp Utilities - This one will cost you $40, but it is well worth it. It performs an automatic diagnostic and repair to keep your system in tiptop shape. Great for the technologically challengened and pro alike. (Also, before you install it get rid of all traces of Norton Utilities. Norton's a dog.)
ThreatFire is new generation virus protection software that is free and highly recommended.
