2009 Spring Association Meeting
at Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church
752 Grand St., Vermilion, Ohio 44089
Nick Cacciatore, Pastor
The semi-annual Ohio Association meeting took place at Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church, Vermilion, Ohio, Nick Cacciatore, host pastor. We wish to thank Vermilion E&R for their wonderful Christian hospitality, including coffee and doughnuts upon our arrival, and a delicious lunch provided all attending without charge!
Highlights of the meeting:
Opening Worship led by Nick Cacciatore, including praise songs and a beautiful solo rendering of The Lord’s Prayer.
Devotional: Nick Cacciatore: "Rabbit Trails and…Mush!"
Morning Theme: “What Can We Do Together to Plant New Churches?” introduced by moderator Dr. John Hood with a reading of Acts 13:1-3 followed by brief comments as he introduced the keynote speaker on the subject, J. Patrick Street, Pastor, Salem Evangelical Church, Marion, Ohio. Pat compellingly advocated with statistical and scriptural documentation the current profound need for planting new churches. Pat then cited the work in progress at Salem Evangelical Church towards that end, including the current church-based preparation of two mature Christian men from the Salem membership for licensing as preachers of the gospel intended to institute new church plants in Marion County, which reportedly at the present time has 46,000 unchurched residents. Pat then proposed to all pastors in attendance to prayerfully consider how either their church could become a mother church to initiate a new church plant in their locale, or else function in a support role of another established church that is doing a new church planting. He has given us as an association much to consider. Thank you, Pat!
